Based in New York City since 2017, Prerna was born in New Delhi and grew up in Doha, Qatar. After studying Industrial Design and Printmaking at Parsons School of Design, Prerna's undergraduate thesis work was featured in Wanted Design's 2021 international exhibition.

From solar-powered plastics production to ceramics and jewelry, Prerna has worked for several designers and companies, including Anthropocene.Design, Light and Ladder, and most recently as the Lead Designer and Accounts Manager at the American Design Club.  In the summer of 2023, Prerna co-curated her 5th design exhibition titled "Might Delete" during NYCxDesign week.

She is currently a master’s thesis student at the Products of Design Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Prerna's MFA thesis explores the essence and importance of Third Spaces in society. She has always been a maker and has a growing appreciation for product design that is both functional and long-lasting. She aspires to continue building a stronger multidisciplinary design approach to her work.

In early 2023, Prerna founded Villa Number 7, a NYC-based design studio named after her childhood home in Qatar. The studio focuses on creating functional, beautiful, and environmentally responsible objects. Their debut collection was a collaboration with the American Design Club, featuring brass and sterling silver jewelry. This collection was showcased at AmericasMart, Las Vegas Market, and Shoppe Object in 2023 and is now available for sale at various US retail stores, including the Newark Museum of Art.
